Frequently Asked Questions
What is mobile dog grooming?
Mobile dog grooming brings grooming services directly to your door! Our fully equipped, climate-controlled van will travel to your home so you don’t have to worry about navigating traffic or coordinating pesky drop-offs and pick-ups. Plus, you can rest assured your loved one will not spend time in a cage or become emotionally overwhelmed in a noisy salon. Instead, within our mobile spa, your furry friend will enjoy grooming in a calm, clean environment as the only dog present - the star of the show!
Do I need to prepare anything before the mobile groomer arrives?
Not much! Please make sure your pup has recently gone to the bathroom and is equipped for a short walk to the van entrance with their collar/harness and leash at the ready. We’ll handle the rest!
Do you need to hook up to my electricity or water?
Nope! Our grooming vans are fully self-contained with their own power and warm water supplies. Our equipment is completely electric - no loud generators here! We do carry an extension cord as backup, though it’s rarely needed.
Will my dog be kenneled or groomed with other dogs?
Never. We groom one dog at a time in a quiet, controlled environment. There are no cages, no waiting, and no interaction with unfamiliar dogs.
What vaccinations are required?
In compliance with the Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act, and for the health and safety of our furry clients and our team, proof of vaccinations must be provided for all dogs before they can be groomed.*
Documentation must be uploaded at the time of booking. Vaccination records are kept securely on file and updates are required as vaccinations expire. (Collar tags alone are not sufficient proof.)
In accordance with Colorado requirements, dogs must be vaccinated for:
-
Rabies
-
Distemper
-
Parvovirus
*Medical exemptions must be accompanied by written veterinary certification.
When should my dog be groomed for the first time?
Our recommendation for your puppy’s first grooming experience is when they’re around 12 weeks old and core vaccinations are complete. The first few visits with your pup are designed to gently introduce them to the grooming process, helping them become comfortable and confident with the handling, sounds, and sensations that accompany routine care from an early age.
First grooms will be a relationship-building, positive experience, and typically include:
-
Slow bath and gentle blow dry
-
Light eye, paw, and sanitary trim
This early acclimation helps set the foundation for stress-free grooming throughout your dog’s life.
How often should my dog be groomed?
Grooming frequency depends on coat type and lifestyle. Generally, we recommend the following:
-
Long or thick coats: every 4–6 weeks
-
Short coats: about every 8 weeks
-
Continuously growing coats (Poodles, Doodles, Shih Tzus): 4-6 weeks
We’re happy to provide a tailored schedule that meets you and your dog's needs!
How long will the grooming service take?
A dog grooming appointment typically takes 1 to 4 hours, depending on your dog’s size, coat type, temperament, and the services being performed. General timeframes are as follows:
-
Small dogs often finish in 1–2 hours
-
Larger dogs or thick-coated breeds may take 2–4 hours or longer, especially if the groom includes detailed styling or mat removal
Additional factors such as matting, coat condition, and breed-specific grooming needs (such as with Poodles or Doodles), as well as your dog’s levels of anxiety and cooperation, can extend service time. Dogs with short coats or receiving basic bath services generally require less time.
We always work at a calm, comfortable pace to ensure your dog’s safety and well-being—never rushed.
What products do you use?
We use high-quality, gentle, biodegradable grooming products that are safe for pets and the environment. If your dog requires a vet-prescribed shampoo, we’re happy to use it upon request.
What if my dog is nervous or anxious?
Many dogs feel calmer in a mobile grooming environment because they experience less sensory overwhelm. Additionally, we specialize in one-on-one, low-stress grooming and always prioritize your dog’s comfort and safety.
Over time, regular grooming appointments help dogs become familiar with both the groomer and the grooming process, which often reduces anxiety and builds trust.
But, let’s be honest, grooming is not a natural activity for dogs, so it’s expected they won’t be head over heels with the grooming process. We designed our care with that in mind, and prioritize your pup’s emotional well-being.
Will my pet have the same groomer at each appointment?
Whenever possible, your pet will have the same groomer assigned to your area, and appointments will be booked directly with that groomer. This consistency helps build trust and familiarity for your dog.
On rare occasions, if your groomer unexpectedly becomes unavailable, a qualified substitute groomer may be offered. We will communicate such changes with you, and respect your decision to proceed with the substitute, or reschedule with your regular groomer.
Do you groom aggressive dogs?
It depends. As the health and safety of both your dog and our team is our highest priority, we assess reactivity in our clients case-by-case. Please reach out and connect with our team to discuss your pup’s unique situation.
Our goal is to groom every dog. However, there are particular situations where a dog may require tailored services that are beyond our scope of practice. If we find we are unable to provide grooming services for you, we will offer referrals to qualified professionals we believe may fit your needs.
How do I get the cost of my pet’s grooming appointment?
Pricing for grooming packages is based on the requested service, your dog’s breed, size, and their coat type. Click ‘here’ to view our pricing breakdowns. In addition, please be aware there is a minimum service fee of $75.
We value transparency in our pricing (no hidden fees!) and do our best to honor the booking price. However, final pricing may vary based on coat condition and services performed. We will always make appropriate, professional decisions based on the health and safety of your pup.
Why does mobile grooming cost more than shop grooming?
Mobile grooming is a personalized service designed with your convenience and your pup’s comfort in mind. Instead of spending many hours in a busy salon, your dog is groomed one-on-one in a calm, quiet environment. We bring a fully equipped salon to you. While this does increase operating costs, your pup will experience less stress, and you will save time by skipping the drive. Our goal isn’t to rush through as many dogs as possible. Rather, we are focused on relationship-building to provide gentle and thoughtful care that enhances your dog’s well-being.
Are there additional charges for unforeseen issues?
Occasionally, unforeseen issues such as severe matting, behavioral challenges, or extra time required to safely complete the groom may result in additional charges. We prioritize transparency when it comes to service fees, and will do our best to voice any concerns clearly, and as early in the groom as possible.
